A Great Dad

Last Tuesday night we babysat Jaxson, my friend Keera's son, for a while. After we went to McDonald's for dinner and enjoyed some great cheeseburgers he wanted to try the Wii. He played Mario Kart for a while, and got a lot better by the end. He always ended last, but he thought he one everything. Here he is celebrating his victory!

Then he wanted to play Super Mario Galaxy, which is not a game made for a 5-year-old. Russell helped him though and it was so fun to see them together. Russell would tell him "go up a little, now left, now jump, okay a little right, a little more...etc." for over an hour! They both seemed so happy just playing and it made me excited for our own kids.

Here's a page I made of their playing:

Anniversary Adventures

Today is our 2nd Anniversary! It's kind of crazy to think about. In a way we both feel like we've been married forever, but it also seems like two years is a long time. However it feels, it's been a great two years!

We were planning on several different things to celebrate, but all of them fell through for one reason or another. We wanted to celebrate on Saturday because today we both had to work. Friday night we decided we would go up to Salt Lake to the zoo (which we've never been to) and then find somewhere nice to eat. Well......then it decided to rain all Saturday long. Dumb.

Instead we went up to Park City to the outlet mall. We went to Carter's and got a couple cute things as well as some gifts for friends and family that are expecting little ones soon.

A really cute dress. Probably my favorite girl outfit we've bought so far.

Some cute jammies Russell picked out!

Then we went to the Mrs. Field's outlet and enjoyed some delicious but over priced cookies. Oh well....they were good! After our hunger was put off for a little bit we headed to Osh-Kosh and found these super-cute overalls!

We also found many other things and decided that next time we go up we might spend money there instead of Carter's.

After that we headed to Target in Orem to pick up a couple outfits we really wanted but were waiting to see if were cheaper at the outlets. Turns out they didn't have them in Park City at all!

Some really fun elephant jammies.

A cute cupcake outfit! This one refused to rotate, so you'll have to rotate your head!

Then we went to Build-a-Bear and made a Stitch bear for the baby. More info about that at Ahlstromology.

And finally we went to Ruby River Steakhouse for dinner. We wanted to try something new and heard that it was good, and boy is that true. Everything we had was absolutely delicious and there was SOOOOOO much of it. It lasted me three meals instead of one!

All in all, it was a pretty good anniversary celebration for having to be spur of the moment. I mostly just enjoyed being with Russell all day with no interruptions!

Jungle Nursery

After looking at crib sets, crib sets, and more crib sets we decided that we should get one that will work for girls and boys so that we don't have to buy a new one if we have a boy later on. So.....we went with a jungle theme! We found this cute set at Target and bought it this week:

The crib bumper. It has a lion on the other side.

The fitted sheet.

The quilt.

The dust ruffle (upper left), a set of receiving blankets (upper right), two extra sheets (lower left), and a snuggly blanket that Dad will really like! (lower right).

I Think I'm in Houston!

It's been raining like crazy around here lately. A couple Sunday's ago I had just gotten home from inventory and it started raining like crazy. I've never seen it rain this hard in Utah, I was convinced that I was in Houston! Here's some pictures:

Our street turned into a river.

How hard the rain is falling.

The pond in our front lawn!

Bird Update

Russell told me just after I posted that he believes the bird in the pond is a pelican, not a stork. And....I actually agree with him. The day after I took the last picture, I went and looked and there were 4 of them! We've never seen more than one, so I took a bunch of pictures. Here's one:

Baby Update

Last Wednesday was the first time that I felt this little girl more than little flutterings. I was laying in bed Wednesday morning watching Good Morning America and all of the sudden I felt her kick me.....and then she kicked and kicked and kicked and pretty much hasn't stopped since. Sometimes I think she gets sideways and kicks and punches at the same time. That's not very cool. It's fun to feel her though, and Russell has felt her a couple times, but she always stops when he comes to feel. haha.

Tic Tac Storage

I finally took pictures of these Tic Tac's today. There is a whole story behind them and I've had them for a year or so and just haven't taken pictures of them. Russell always begs me to so he can eat them!

The short version of the story is: We were in Houston visiting my parents before we got married and went to Walmart with mom. She bought us each some Tic Tac's and Russell and I decided to see if we could fit the whole pack in our mouths. He was successful....I came close but not quite. And mom and the girls were just laughing at us because it takes a while to eat all those Tic Tacs once they are in your mouth.

Anyway.....The real reason for a post about Tic Tac's is because yesterday I received some new Karen Foster brads into the store for Hot Spot and they are packaged in a similar container to Tic Tac's only a little smaller and with a plastic divider down the middle so there can be two different colors of brads in each. I got to thinking......I could just use empty Tic Tac conatiners to store all my brads and eyelets!

So.....if anybody eats Tic Tacs and wants to send me the empty containers I would appreciate it. Because....let's just say.....I will need a bunch!

New Camera

I finally bought my new Canon Rebel T1i today! I wrote a little more about it on ahlstromology since it is the picture of the week, but here's a couple cool pictures I took.

This one is in the mirror and it's soooooo clear. Try to do that with your dinky camera!
And this one is through our back window, right through the dirty glass to the pond outside and it's awesome! I can't wait to learn more of the fancy things I can do with it.

P.S. That is a cool bird that is sometimes in our pond and sometimes not. We call him Big Bird but I believe he is a stork. I may be totally off in guessing, but I think he's cool.

Missing Jack

Holly and Jack went down to California to hang out for a while, but we are missing a certain little one here in Utah. (and Holly too!)

A couple nights ago Russell turned to me and said "even I miss Jack." Haha. Life definitely isn't the same without him. Maybe Holly could mail him to us and have some time baby-free???

4th of July Scrapbooking

I've been hard at work making some 4th of July tiles lately. Here's the finished project:

I used the Crate Paper Freedom line for the patterned paper. They don't make it anymore I don't think, but I bought packs of it at their warehouse sale a couple weeks ago. 25 sheets of paper for $1.50 is a great deal!

And...I got an email from Pebbles in My Pocket the other day saying they had the Scenic Route 4th of July line. I just had to go and get it today because I LOVE Scenic Route! Here's how cute it is:
Now I just need some good pictures!

Ice Cream Sin

So at the grocery store this week Russell and I got a pint of Ben and Jerry's S'mores ice cream to try because it looked super good. I went downstairs last night to get some water and what was Russell doing???? Scooping the Ben and Jerry's OUT OF THE CARTON!!!!! Excuse me.....no, that's not how you eat Ben and Jerry's. Here's some evidence of his sin:

Let me explain. In the summer of 2005 my family took a LONG vacation to New York and down the coast. At some point we stopped and toured the Ben and Jerry's factory. At the end of the tour we got to sample some Fossil Fuel ice cream (which is the best Ben and Jerry's EVER, but it's really hard to find!). Dad loved it and then the rest of the vacation Mom would buy pints of it at the grocery store and we would all eat out of the pint at the hotel because we didn't have bowls or anything. This is how my family still eats Ben and Jerry's, so I couldn't believe Russell was scooping it out of the carton. Scandalous!

It's a......

Girl!  Tada!  It was so exciting to find out the news today.  Everything looks great and this little one is quite stubborn.  She wanted to stay in a ball the whole time which makes it quite hard for them to look at everything they need to.  We were quite surprised how detailed it was actually, and it was fun to see all the parts of her brain, heart, etc.  Here's a few of the pictures:

Here she is all in a ball....with her feet above her head.  Maybe she will be a gymnast!

Here's a head on view looking at her face.  That big black spot is her brain....which is large.  and then you can see two eyes, a blurry nose and mouth, and a chin.

Here's the best profile shot he got.  Not bad I think!

And in this one you can see her 5 little fingers on the right hand.  He says they usually keep them in a fist....I guess she's a show off!
And that's our little girl.....now on to picking a name and getting everything we still need!

Scrapbooking Sunday

Yesterday afternoon I pulled out some of Caleb's mission pictures and made a couple pages. I want to finish his books before the baby comes because I know I will be crazy busy after that. Haha. We'll see how it goes. These are done except for the titles. I want to cut them out with my Silhouette, however my computer charger finally died and so I don't have a computer with the right software for a couple days. I'll have to finish them then.

This oen will have "4th of July" in red at the top and "Basketball"
in blue at the bottom popped up.

This one has the first letters of the title in chipboard, but the title will be "Face of Cosochton"

Tada! Caleb probably thinks I will never finish, but I really do plan on it and now there is evidence to prove it!
