37 Weeks

The update from the doctor today is: NO CHANGE. UGH.

3 fingers on both my hands are constantly numb....really all day every day. And....she can kick REALLY hard.

We bought a giraffe costume for her for Halloween so I told her she has to come before then. We actually have two costumes....a tiger in newborn size courtesy of Grandpa Flanagan and the giraffe I bought in 0-3 months just in case she is too long for the newborn size. Russell's dad said he came out too long to fit into newborn, so I'm worried about that. And we can't have no costume for her first Halloween!

But....for now we just keep waiting. In Doctor Koperek's words "It looks like she's not coming in September!"

Sunday Staple

It seems as if grilled cheese or grilled ham and cheese have become somewhat of a Sunday lunch staple here at the Ahlstrom house. Yesterday, I made some when we got home from church, and Russell decided to use the dinosaur cutter my mom got him to have dinosaur grilled ham and cheese! I just had to take a picture! And....they are kissing! GROSS!

36 Weeks

This week marks 36 weeks for me! I'm going to the doctor once a week now, which is insane. I've had a few Braxton-Hicks contractions, but really not many. Dr. Koperek says everything still looks great. She is moving down and I'm beginning to dialate a little, but only about 1/2 a cm. In Dr. Koperek's words "You're down to the end, but she's not coming tonight!"

A few more little things to do before she comes. I'm trying to find a cheap dresser on Craigslist or somewhere for clothes, blankets, etc. but haven't been too successful yet. And...I need to set up a time to go and meet a couple pediatricians so I can decide who to use.

Another update next week!

35 Weeks

I've been lousy about taking pictures of my progression, but lots of people are on my case so here you go! Definitely not the best picture of me. I was really tired and wearing my pj's, but I finally remembered to have Russell take one.

So what's happening at 35 weeks you ask? I'll tell you.

  • I now go to the doctor every week! It's crazy to think I'm to the point where she's almost here, but I can't wait!
  • My hands and feet are constantly asleep....apparently I have bad circulation or something. It gets quite annoying after about 10 minutes!
  • My hands and feet also hurt.....like it feels like the bone hurts, especially when I am sleeping. Weird. All I can think is that maybe I swell more at night and they get irritated.
  • She keeps moving and moving and moving. I'm not sure she ever is still! Must get that from her daddy!
  • And....I'm convinced she has a foot hooked around one of my ribs and I can't get her to move it.
Other than that, I am trying to get everything ready for her. I'm almost to the point where I want to wash her little clothes and hang them up. I went to Babies R Us today and got a few essentials we still needed so I'm feeling pretty prepared in the way of supplies. Now if we could only come up with a name!

A Little More Ready

Last week sometime I decided I would put the linen's on the crib and get it ready, mostly to see how cute it would look, and I think it looks great! I still need to buy a waterproof pad to put under the sheet, but other than that it is ready for our little one!

Truffles

Meet Truffles, the newest mammoth in our herd.

I was looking online a month or two back for some baby things and happened upon this mammoth and just HAD to have him. I mean really, who doesn't need a gigantic mammoth?

Baby Decor

For those who don't know, we have decided to do a jungle theme in the baby's room. We have the crib set, but I have been looking for more decor since the room is quite white. Luckily, Quickutz released these cute chubby jungle animals for the Silhouette!

I have them cut out now and just need to order 8x8 frames to put them in and then hang them up in a square in the baby's room. I'll post another picture when they are up!

Pregnancy Update

I went to the doctor yesterday, now that our insurance has kicked in. He seems really nice and answered all my questions, which was great. Everything is still rolling along just fine. He says even though everyone says I am small I am measuring just fine for a small person...so there! I also scheduled us for a tour of the hospital on the 14th since we've never been there before, so that should be interesting.

Other pregnancy news:

No, Russell didn't buy me a new ring, although I definitely wouldn't reject it! Haha. Apparently my hands are swelling a little now and I had a hard, long fight to get my ring off the other day and so decided that it better stay off until after the baby comes. So...in the box it went.

And...lately my back is killing me! Well really, it's just one muscle in my back, stupid thing. However, I seem to be much more comfortable on the air mattress up in the loft than in our bed! Weird!!! I found this out a couple nights after Caleb and Holly had gone home and Russell was snoring. I hadn't put the air mattress away and so decided to go up there instead of get a kink in my neck sleeping on the couch. After that night, I decided to leave it up for now. It's not in the way of anything, and sometimes I get so fed up with my back hurting and go up and sleep there instead.
