A Week in Review 2

Day 90-Mar 30: I didn't think I would have to tell my husband not to color his shirt with crayons, but I guess I was wrong. I tried to take a picture of the shirt, but it color wasn't dark enough. Russell was testing the blue crayons during sacrament to make sure we had goods ones to color our fish bowl water with in nursery, little did I know as he tested them he put them into his shirt pocket! AHHH!!! Then when he went to get them all out he noticed he had colored his shirt!

Day 89-Mar 29: I have been ringless for two days, but I got it back today! I took it in for the annual warranty cleaning/checking. They also put rhodium plating on (apparently with white gold you have to do that) and it looks brand new again! I love it when it is nice and clean and shiny, I can't stop looking at it! I'm trying to convince Russell that I need an extra one for when I have to take mine in. Haha. He isn't going for it!

Day 88-Mar 28: Look at that ice cream! I got it when we went to Macy's grocery shopping this week and I enjoyed my first scoop today. It actually has Samoa cookies in it, sometimes like a half of one still together! Samoas are my favorite girl scout cookies and I will enjoy this ice cream all myself since Russell doesn't like coconut! Yum~!

A Week in Review

Wow. I just didn't have a minute this week to blog. I thought it would be a calm week since I didn't have orchestra, but it didn't turn out that way. So here's a week in review.....in two posts because of the picture limit yet again!

Day 87-Mar 27: I bought these fish stickers from Archiver's today to use in nursery this Sunday. The lesson topic is "I am Thankful for Fish!" Kind of a silly topic if you ask me, but I thought we could print fish bowls out, color them, and stick our fish stickers in them. (Since it's Sunday now, I will mention that this was a wonderful activity, the kids loved it! We also went fishing and they did a great job taking turns. I had them pull a little piece of paper out of a bag and then fish for a fish of that color. Today was probably the most successful day of nursery since we've been in there. At the beginning of the lesson I held up a picture of a fish from the manual, it happened to be a clown fish, and asked the kids what it was and all together they shouted "Nemo!" I should have known!)

Day 86-Mar 26: Tonight we went to a presentation by Sister Hallen on the Emily Dickinson Lexicon. Russell worked with Sister Hallen on his master's thesis and made the website for her lexicon (which is a dictionary if anyone else didn't know!). Tonight she did a presentation that was recorded about the website. It was pretty interesting and fun to see Russell's work being used by people across the world.

Day 85-Mar 25: This is the skillet Russell got me for my birthday. Today, and many a day since, last November, I had a delicious grilled cheese sandwich for lunch. I have been on a grilled cheese kick since I got the skillet, they are just so delicious! We also enjoy the pancakes and french toast we can now have with our skillet.

Day 84-Mar 24: Yup, that really is my ironing basket empty. Russell didn't think I could do it all in one night, but Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium was just long enough to let me get all the ironing done! Our closet looks so full now that all our clothes are hanging up!

Easter Weekend

Day 83-Mar 23: Happy Easter! We enjoyed munching on our easter candy in our baskets and had a great easter dinner and Rick and Shelley's tonight. Trying to teach the nursery kids the concept of the atonement and resurrection was probably the hardest part of easter. Oh well, we'll try to make more progress next week I guess.

Day 82-Mar 22: We exchanged easter gifts today, mainly because I bought Russell Super Smash Brothers and knew that he would not want to get it on Sunday when he can't play it! Russell got me these camo shorts from American Eagle that I really wanted. Now I just need it to warm up a little so that I can wear them without freezing!

3.21.2008

3 More Days

Day 81-Mar 21: Today was a great day, I got a 95% on my marketing test, and I found out that I can for sure graduate next April rather than waiting until December. I filled the easter eggs this afternoon since we have a busy day tomorrow with work and playing games with Larkin and Allyson. I put the eggs in a glass bowl and decided to use them as a center piece until they are eaten.

Day 80-Mar 20: I finally got Keera and Eric's wedding announcement today. They are super cute, I love the colors. I'm so excited for them to finally get married, they are wonderful. They made all their announcements, which was quite a task but they turned out great!

Day 79-Mar 19: Russell ordered some groceries from Amazon the other day and they came today. These are the 20 free packets of brownies we got for ordering a certain amount of General Mills products. It's actually kind of neat, you buy the groceries in bulk, but it is somewhat cheaper. It does make put my pantry into a type of tailspin. I might move the extras to that empty lazy susan.

3.19.2008

Rondo

So I'm sitting in my OB class, not really paying attention because he is rambling like he does everyday, and then I hear "Rondo Fehlberg" and start paying attention. The teacher has never met Rondo, but heard a story about him that he told in class. Crazy.

Picture Update

Day 78-Mar 18: Today was such a sunny and beautiful day, I loved it. It was snowing when I came out of operations class, but it was kind of sunny while it was snowing, and none of the snow stuck. These are some of the mountains by our house, I LOVE the mountains, and it's my favorite to see snow on them. Remember, snow on the mountains, NOT on the lawn! Anyway, I'm excited for the sunny weather. Now if I can just get these allergies under control so that I can breathe!

Day 77-Mar 17: St. Patrick's Day! Russell was sad that I didn't have anything green planned for dinner. Oops....I will have to plan better next year I guess. A new season of The Bachelor started tonight and I watched it. As it neared the end, the british bachelor (who is not near as good looking as some of the former bachelors) needed to give away the "first impression rose" so that one girl would know she was safe. As they panned through the girls, Russell said "he should not give it to anyone, they are ugly." As I looked at him with a "that was mean" face, he said "What, I would give you one." So I said "Ok then, I want one now (I didn't mean now as in right this second, but I guess he took it that way.) He said he was going to Albertson's, I thought he was joking so I didn't stop him, but he actually went and came back with this wonderful rose! I only have a big vase from the wedding, so the picture looks kind of silly.

Day 76-Mar 16: I thought I had strep this morning, so we stayed home from church, come to find out that I believe it is just allergies. At about 7:00pm I was absolutely bored of reading and sleeping and decided we should play some games. This is one of our favorites called Phoenix. You have to try and get your little pieces in the same order as the colors in the middle before the other person does. You have cards that tell you how you can move. We also played Ticket to Ride.

Day 75-Mar 15: I had to quickly prepare for the nursery lesson today. I cut out these fishes so that we could go fishing since the lesson was "I am thankful for fish." I got the lesson most of the way done and Russell and I drove to JoAnn's to look for material to make curtains out of, as we came home we drove past the church and there were lots of cars and I thought "is it stake conference???" We looked when we came home and found out it was, so we didn't even need to teach a lesson. We were in Denver the week before and didn't know about stake conference. Oh well, the lesson is prepared for when we need it!

Ladder Kits

For those of you who just can't wait to see the next ladder kit, here are pictures of St. Patrick's day and Easter.

Kool-Aid

I had a different picture for today, but then I had to use this one, I just know my mother-in-law will love it!

Day 74-Mar 14:

As we were heading upstairs to watch our movie and go to bed tonight, we went to the kitchen to get drinks. Lately I HAVE to have a drink on my bedside at night, I always seem to wake up parched in the middle of the night. Anyway, Russell got a glass of Kool-aid and then handed the whole pitcher to me. So...I assumed he wanted me to drink out of the pitcher! I said I would take it upstairs and proceeded to drink it from the pitcher. Russell thought it was rather funny, which made me laugh, and we almost had Kool-aid everywhere!

Dinner and a Movie, Doughnuts, Rain Smell, and an Easter Dilemma

Now that I typed that title, I'm going to talk about everything out of order.

Doughnuts: Has nothing to do with any pictures-of-the-day, but I had one this morning at the Marriott School. Some of the best days at school are the ones when employers come to suck up (mostly to the accounting students) and bring doughnuts with them. You don't even have to talk to them, you can just grab a doughnut and be on your way! Today was one of those days....Yumm!

Rain Smell: I love the smell right after it rains, and I haven't smelt that in a while since all it's done here is snow. Today though, it rained a little while I was in class and then stopped. When I walked outside there was that refreshing scent, and I remembered how much I love it. I guess that's one good thing about Houston, there is plenty of rain and plenty of after-the-rain smell.

Day 73-Mar 13:

I went to Walmart today in search of Easter baskets and came up with these things. I got the baskets, grass, eggs, and egg coloring kits all for under $15! Here's the Easter dilemma: I cannot find those little Cadbury Mini-Eggs! The only place I've seen a package is Albertson's and they were dark chocolate, which might be okay for me, but not for Russell. Those little eggs are our favorites!!!! Has anyone seen them anywhere????

Day 72-Mar 12:

We haven't been on a real date in a long time, and we had been talking about it for a week or so. So yesterday when I didn't have any pressing homework I decided to plan something. As I drove past the dollar theater to pick Russell up from work I stopped to see when August Rush was playing. I still hadn't seen it! It came out of DVD today, but there was a "long wait" on Netflix and I couldn't handle it anymore! So as soon as Russell got in the car I asked if he wanted to go on a date, and of course he said yes! So we went to Brick Oven for dinner and then to see August Rush. I did make him pay though.....even though I asked him out!

Delicious

Day 71-Mar 11: Not a very good picture, but for some reason I couldn't get a good one last night. I might have to try again. While in Denver, Russell's mom came across some girl scouts and was wonderful enough to call and see if we wanted any cookies. I have been searching high and low for girl scouts in Utah to get some cookies, but they are no where! So I was excited to be able to get some. We got a box of caramel delights, shortbread, and thin mints. One day we will be able to afford more, but not anytime soon. These thin mints kept me company while I watched American Idol last night.

Long Time, No Blog Part Two

If you want to see all the pictures from our trip here's a link.

Day 70- Mar 10:

So while we were in Denver we stopped at some outlet malls. Walking around we found a Carter's baby store and Russell thought it would be fun to go in. Well.....they were having a good sale and the clothes were just too cute! So.....I bought some. My logic is that I will have a baby sooner or later right???? Well, I can't resist baby clothes that have elephants....and dinosaurs apparently. And...I found out there's a Carter's store in West Jordan and Park City. (The green hoodie has little dinosaurs on it, it's hard to tell in the picture.)

Day 69- Mar 9:

The happy family with their newest member, little Izzy. She's the reason we went to Denver. It was great for Russell to be able to participate in the blessing of this new little one. We enjoyed spending time with Camille, Willie, and their little ones even if it wasn't for very long!

Day 68- Mar 8:

Izzy is super cute! I jumped at the chance when Camille needed someone to hold her. She cried for a few minutes, but then calmed down and just snuggled for a while. They are so precious to just hold and snuggle while they are itty-bitty!

Day 67- Mar 7:

Grandma was watching us play games. We will have to get her to play next time. It was great to be able to see my grandparents. I hadn't seen them for 3 years almost. They shared some fun stories from their recently-finished mission and Papa got plenty of teasing in even though he only had a few hours!

Long Time, No Blog Part One

Blogger only let's you post up to five pictures a post apparently, so I have to do the last six days in a couple of posts. Those last two days before going out of town were hectic, but our weekend in Denver was fun. Russell got to meet my grandparents as well as Aunt Nettie, Uncle Dave, and their girls. We played some games, hugged some nieces, and ate good food. Overall, I delightful weekend. Now I just need a weekend to do everything I didn't get done over the weekend!

Day 66- Mar 6:

I frantically packed the half hour before I went to work tonight. I hadn't even started thinking about what I needed, but I knew I didn't want to pack when I got home at 10:30 after closing. Packing is always like a puzzle. I was trying to fit everything in a carry-on. But then Russell reminded me I had to check my suitcase if I was bringing shampoo and things....since I didn't have travel size nor time to buy any!

Day 65- Mar 5:

I finally bought a new hanger for the front door. It was about time to get that snowman off, I felt like he was inviting more snow, which is NOT what I want! This cute bunny will do for spring though. And....he was on sale at the Quilted Bear.

Better by the Minute

Alrighty, I am back up and running almost on full energy today. Just needed a small nap after my classes and I was good to go. So watch out....there should be some good pictures in the next few days. We are excited to go to Denver this weekend and meet our newest niece along with visiting my grandparents and a couple of aunts and uncles! Here's pictures from the last two days....but before you look at them you should check out the album I posted tonight on picasa web called The Adventures of the Cookie Skillet! Click on the link and enjoy. http://picasaweb.google.com/carnegiewannabe

Day 64- Mar 4:

I've spent most of the day studying for the mid-term I missed last week due to surgery. I even found myself subconsciously going over problems in my head as I watched The Game Plan tonight with Russell. Anyway, this picture is of the notes I was studying all day. Hopefully it will pay off tomorrow.

Day 63- Mar 3:

This Hi-C Orange from McDonald's brought great relief to me yesterday. I was having a hard day.....I'm pretty sure it was the pain killers fault. But this drink got some sugar and fluid in me and I felt better this morning! Plus....it has an advertisement for the olympics on the cup and I can't wait for them to start!!!

3.02.2008

Up and Running...Hopefully

I'm mostly up and running now after 5 days of spending my time in bed. I still have pain and am taking stuff for it, but not as often. I'm almost out of the good pain stuff and will have to switch to the Ibuprofen. I plan on going back to school tomorrow though, hopefully that will work out. Here's pictures from the last 3 days.

Day 62- Mar 2:

I pulled out my cribbage board today, read up on the rules to refresh my memory, and taught Russell how to play. We are heading to Denver the end of the week and needed to be ready to play with Grandpa Flanagan. I look forward to playing when I visit him. Up until now no one else I knew knew how to play cribbage. Now I can play with Russell, but it's special to have something unique to do with Grandpa....even if I always lose.

Day 61- Mar 1:

Rachel came over tonight and we played Thurn and Taxis. Russell has had it for a while but had never played it. We all enjoyed it a lot and will definitely be playing again. You act as postman and have to build your route and houses on it while getting bigger and bigger carts. I beginning to realize I'm pretty safe with games from Rio Grande, I seem to like all of them so far.

Day 60- Feb 29:

Leap Day! We didn't do anything great....in fact I stayed in bed and read Twilight most of the day. Luckily Russell has business cards now, which really are just bookmarks in disguise. I used my Dad's the whole time I grew up. Without them I don't know what I would do! So here is my nice bookmark courtesy of Russell so that I don't have to bend the pages of books that I borrow.
